Zurich is a city that lives for coffee. From the morning caffeine boost to a relaxed afternoon cup, you'll find cafés here that not only impress with excellent coffee but also with style and atmosphere. We've gathered the best spots where the coffee tastes especially good. Whether it's espresso, Americano, or flat white – everyone will find something to enjoy here.
miró manufactura de café
miró is both: café and roastery. The Sanchez brothers originally started with their coffee trucks on the Polyterrasse and in front of ETH on the Hönggerberg. They now have two permanent locations – one at Zurich’s main station and a café with a roastery on Brauerstrasse. Here, coffee enjoyment is celebrated at the highest level. Guests can choose from various coffee varieties, depending on their taste. A special highlight: the Americano made with El Indio beans from Colombia – and you can watch Alfonso roast the coffee live on-site.
Mame
Mame Café in Zurich is not just a café – it’s a love letter to the coffee bean. Since 2016, Mame – named after the Japanese word for 'beans' – has been fulfilling coffee dreams at the highest level in Zurich. Here, it’s all about perfection: the founders, Emi Fukahori and Mathieu Theis, are true professionals. They’ve won the Swiss Barista Championship multiple times and even made it to the top ranks at the World Barista Championship on several occasions. True experts, indeed
Café Lalere
It doesn’t get more stylish than this. You might feel like you’re on the cover of Architectural Digest, but you’re actually sitting in the most beautiful new addition to Wiedikon – designed personally by co-founder Luca Blum. If you think this place is all style and no substance, you’d be mistaken. Matcha latte, hojicha latte, Americano, flat white, Shokupan, and now even black sesame latte – everything is absolutely top-notch. The coffee comes from the in-house roastery, Dritta, where co-founder Fabian Gass roasts organic coffee beans with great expertise and passion.
Draft Coffee
At the Zürihorn, Tobias Nagele and Felix Rocha run Draft Coffee. The modern, silver interior, designed by Zurich's RDZ design studio, provides an intriguing contrast to the handwritten menu, the to-go smileys on the cups, and the cloud logo. Alongside excellent coffee, you’ll also find functional drinks like the Chagaccino (made with the medicinal mushroom Chaga) and a rotating breakfast and brunch menu. But heads up: no reservations here – you’d better be early!
Belmondo
Wipkingen is undergoing a transformation: alongside Gelateria di Berna and a ViCafe, since spring 2023, Belmondo has joined the ranks of the Kreis 10 hotspots. Where an old Tea-room once stood, the creators of the well-known venues Raymond, formerly Dante and Grande have established a charming café-bar. In addition to excellent coffee, you can enjoy fine cocktails and wines at the stylish red-tiled bar. It’s the perfect spot for caffeine, cocktails, and that special Wipkingen flair!
Wim Bakery
Also in Wipkingen, just a stone's throw from the Limmat, you’ll find even more really good coffee along with an in-house bakery. The interior is simple yet stylish, featuring marble tables, green tiles, and wooden furniture. The aroma of fresh coffee, sourdough bread, and croissants fills the air. From Wednesday to Sunday, you can watch the master bakers work their magic with the dough.
Coffee
Here, you’ll find pour-over perfection. The latest hype in the coffee world? Not quite – it’s just the trendy name for the good old-fashioned hand brewing that the Melitta generation has known from grandma. In New York, this classic has been given a contemporary twist, with pour-over coffee now so stylish that it has even made it into museums – the Chemex, for instance, can be admired at the Museum of Modern Art in New York. But enough about the Big Apple. Our coffee place on Grüngasse impresses with top-notch pour-over, perfect flat whites, and moist banana bread, and it could easily be found on a corner in Williamsburg.
Commercial – The Project
A simple wooden bar, terrazzo tables and yellow splashes of color to add freshness - plus flower pot lights and a large window with a view of the lively Kreis 4 district. This is Commercial The Project at Feldstrasse 61. Chreis Cheib outside, cappuccino, Americano, espresso and the finest pastries from Collective Bakery and Barba Züri inside. New on offer: a second location in the heart of District 1, at Bahnhofstrasse 75/79
Café Noir
Small but lovely and, above all, cozy - Café Noir has been around since 2005 and is still a popular meeting place for coffee lovers. You immediately feel at home in the former living room. Café Noir roasts its own coffee in DasProvisorium at Binz in district 3.
