It was 1964, Martin Luther King received the Nobel Peace Prize and - scandal - Jean-Paul Sartre turned it down for literature. However, 16-year-old Rudi Bindella was probably more interested in music and Italy. He was delighted when Gigliola Cinquetti won the Eurovision Song Contest for Italy with "Non ho l'età". Whether this was the reason why Rudi Bindella - then a student at Fribourg's Collège St-Michel - founded the band "Les Moby Dicks" together with his schoolmates is no longer known.
The musicians, dressed in pink velvet dresses in keeping with the spirit of the times, already knew how to please with their dance music back then. Today, the band with Alex Eigenmann (saxophone, flute), Marco Thürlemann (electric guitar), Henry Dobler (bass), Rudi Bindella (drums) and Christoph "Stevie" Schifferli (keyboard) play a cross-section of the English and American hit parades from the 1960s and 1970s, with medleys by the Beatles, Beach Boys and Bee Gees being the all-time favorites.
And you? Enjoy the musical journey through time accompanied by Italian-inspired delicacies and a glass of excellent wine. Or even two.
